Destiny Shopping

A magical and extravagant procession consisting of a knight, a page, a large white horse and four priestess/goddess spirits who entered the Alice Plaza Shopping Centre in search of the Holy Grail. They viewed this Contemporary shopping Centre through medieval eyes giving consumerist images and advertisement significant and deeper meanings relating to their own quest. This theatrical journey through the plaza was scripted, with costumes and had musical background however it was flexible enough to allow for spontaneous interaction with the crowd and customer service staff.

24 Hour Dance Marathon

Immersive live art cultivating spontaneous relationships between artists and community.

Part art, part sport, the 24hr DANCE Marathon is inspired by the endurance dance contests of the 1920s and 1930s. Unlike those often gruelling events, 24hr DANCE Marathon participants step onto a kaleidoscopic 80s wonderland dance floor that becomes a melting pot for positive community connection. Enthralled spectators become the spectacle as the narrative unfolds and the human spirit is tested through this bizarre endeavour.

Participants can sign up as a team, dancing relay-style or go for solo gold. Spectators can dance for an ‘Hour of Power’ or simply cheer on from the sidelines.

This is a drug and alcohol free event for people of all ages that’s ideal for enlivening public spaces, promoting healthy living, fundraising, team building and showcasing local talent.

Live Arts in Alice

Unexpected things started happening in the usual places and the usual happened in unexpected places: an office worker at her desk, a man watching TV on a couch and even a couple of bureaucrats wheeling a whiteboard down the mall.

‘Live Arts’ is a dynamic art form that has the potential to engage the public spontaneously and with profound immediacy, and meaningful dynamism.

It was a consummate performance: the perfect bureaucrat, eyes glued to the screen, ignoring all around her, a little discreet typing, lots of competent nodding, agreement, questions, plans.  Business shirt, straight skirt, stockinged legs, low-heeled pumps.  Desk, phone, computer. Right in the middle of Todd Mall……..There’s more to come. Watch out for that wrinkle in the ordinary.
